It is a very exciting time for the club to announce that Daniel Sampey has joined the club as both a player and coach. Dan will be playing and coaching our Men’s 1st team for the 2017 season. Dan boasts a very impressive hockey resume already that shows his vast experience and talent that he is bringing to the club. He is a pure striker and will be a frightening force up the front of the field in attack. Expect to be excited and amazed by his prowess in the D and the deafening thud of the ball hitting the backboard on a regular basis!

Fresh off winning 5 recent first division premierships with YMCC (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015) where he played alongside the likes of Kookaburras Jamie Dwyer, Eddie Ockenden and Graeme Begbie. He has been a member of the Australia A team that toured China, Perth Thundersticks AHL gold medal winning team and was a WAIS squad member for several years. He still holds several goal scoring records at YMCC and is one of the leading goal scorers of all time for the club.

Besides his national experience with the Thundersticks he also brings international exposure from his time spent with Fareham Hockey Club in the UK. We all wish Dan a warm welcome to the club and he has already been making his presence known by cracking the whip at pre-season training.
