In the Men’s Promotion/Relegation Series, Melville Toyota League Clubs Curtin Trinity Pirates and Peel Rebels will play against Rockingham Redbacks and Joondalup Lakers to determine who will play in the 2015 Melville Toyota League season.

Peel Rebels who were promoted last year back into the Melville Toyota League has found life tough in the top tier. Having conceded 114 goals for the year, 13 of which came in the final round against University of WA, they will be looking for a much more solid defensive effort in the series.

Curtin Trinity Pirates will again be involved in the relegation play-off series. It was a much improved year for the Pirates, who managed to do the double over Fremantle. They were only one win away from avoiding the relegation play-off – a game against last year’s Grand Finalists Westside Wolves, which they went down 1-0. That in itself shows how tough and competitive the Melville Toyota League is.

One of the clubs vying for promotion this year is Joondalup Lakers. The northern suburbs club have had their best ever season ever in the clubs twenty year history, finishing on top of the ladder. Key recruits Borja Meissner, Tomas Santiago (Argentinean U21 GK) and former New Zealand International Issac Staples have been influential in Joondalup’s improved performances this year. Staples, has been prolific this season, scoring 40 goals, including an opening round 10 bag haul against Kalamunda. Although they will start the series on 0 points, if Staples is afforded time on the ball up front – they could have a real shot at promotion.

Rockingham is the other club looking for promotion for the 2015 season. The southern based club will start the promotion/relegation series on top of the ladder with two points, after having been the only team to defeat Lakers all year (twice).  They will take confidence from those wins against Lakers into the Play-offs. If they can pick up another win against Lakers; a result against either Pirates or Peel will go a long way towards gaining promotion.
